How to make SARVAPINDI (Rice flour pancake)

SARVAPINDI is a pancake made of rice flour using channa dal (lentil) and spices to make it a spicy yummy delicious and healthy dish with lot of nutritional values.

What does sarva pindi actually mean?
This is traditional food of Telangana. Actual meaning of SARVAPINDI or GINNAPPA which is divided into two parts 'GINNA' and 'APPA' which means a deep pot or pan and Appa means a cake sort of preparation. Hence the word to word translation of Sarva pindi or Ginnappa is the pan cake.Sarva Pindi pancake is one of the ethnic dishes from the Telangana cuisine. 

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)

    → Curry leaves - 1 Bunch.
    → Coriander leaves (cilantro) -1 Bunch
    → Sesame seeds - 2 Teaspoons
    → Ginger garlic paste - 1 Teaspoon
    → Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon OR 
         Green chilli - 5-6 numbers
    → Onion - 1 Cup
    → Channa dal -  1/2 Cup
    → Roasted peanuts (Optional) -1/4 cup
    → Cashew nuts (Optional) - 1/4 cup
    → Rice flour - 1 1/2 cup
    → Salt - according to taste
    → Water - 1 cup
    → Oil

Preparation:

   1. Soak channa dal (lentils) for 15-20mins.
   2. Make a coarse powder of roasted peanuts and cashew nuts (OPTIONAL).
   3. If you like onions, you can cut onions into small pieces or you can make a smooth paste. you can add into rice flour mixture.
   3. Take a bowl and boil the water (This makes the rice flour mixture smooth, tasty and adds flavors even makes the sarvapindi tastier).
   4. Meanwhile take a bowl and Mix rice flour with red chilli powder or green chilli paste, channa dal, curry leaves, peanut, cashew nut powder , ginger garlic paste, onions or onions paste and mix well and add hot water to it and make a dough like consistency.
   5. Take a non stick pan apply oil to the pan, take handful of dough, press on to the pan with the hands, make small holes and oil in the holes
   6. If you want to eat a soft sarvapindi you can sprinkle some water on to the pressed dough this way you can get a soft sarvapindi 
   7. If you like a crispy sarvapindi you can just cook it with the oil
   8. Cook sarvapindi on a slow flame until u get slight color 
   9. Put the pan in a cold water so that you can take it out easily and also your pan gets cool down faster
   10. A Tasty yummy spicy sarvapindi is ready to eat you can serve it with pickle or curd
