How to prepare SOFT IDLY

IDLY is a very healthy breakfast which don't have any oil. If your in diet this is the best breakfast. This recipe is from Indian cuisine. It takes little time to prepare, this recipe can be prepared in 2 ways. The first way is by fermentation and the second way is instantly. Now we are going to see the fermentation method. In the morning if your busy or any guests came to your home you can prepare this breakfast in 15-20mins and impress them. 

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)
  • → Idly rava (rice rava, instant rava) - 2 cups
  • → Urad dal (split white gram) - 1 cup
  • → Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon 
  • → Oil/ghee - 1/2 teaspoon 
  • → Water for soaking
  • → Salt to taste

Preparation:

   1. Wash and Soak urad dal (split white gram) in water for 5-6 hours.
   2. Wash and Soak idly rava (rice rava) in water for 3-4 hours.
   3. Take the blending jar add urad dal (remove water), salt and make it into nice smooth paste by adding little water into it.
   4. Remove water from idly rava then add urad dal paste, also add soda for fermentation, mix well until idly rava and urad dal mixes well with other and leave it overnight.
   5. In the morning see whether it has fermented or not if not add eno into it leave for more 10-15mins.
   6. After it has fermented take the idly stand bowl and add 2cups of water to it let it boil for 10mins, then take idly stand add oil to plates then add fermented idly batter into it.
   7. After the water comes to a boil put the idly stand into it and put for 15-20mins.
   8. Take a toothpick or fork or knife put it in the middle of the idly, if it comes clean then idly is ready, take a spoon dip it in the water and take the idly from the idly stand. 
    8. Finally the soft tasty yummy idly is ready to serve. You can enjoy this with peanut chutney, coconut chutney and also with sambar.
