How to prepare BOMBAY HALWA

BOMBAY HALWA/KARACHI HALWA is a delicious sweet which everyone loves it. This is made with different ingredients in different styles. This is the quick version made with corn flour. The taste is just yummy sweet that everyone enjoys.

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 100grams)
  • → Sugar - 2 cups
  • → water -  1 1/4 cups
  • → Ghee - 1 cup
  • → Corn flour - 1/2 cup
  • → Cardamom powder - 2 teaspoons  
  • → Cashew nuts - 1/2 cup
  • → Almond (Baddam) - 1/2 cup
  • → Lime juice - 1 teaspoon 
  • → Melon seeds - 1/2 cup
  • → Food color - 1 teaspoon 

Preparation:

   1. Heat a pan add sugar (2cups), water (125ml), let it come to a boil then add cardamom powder, lime juice and then switch off the flame (By adding lime juice can avoid sugar syrup from crystallisation).
   2. Take a bowl then add corn flour, 1 cup water, mix well and see that there should be no lumps in it.
   3. Take a pan add 2 teaspoons of ghee into it then add corn flour now switch on the flame, put on the low flame possible, mix well until it becomes thick and switch off the flame.
   4. Add little by little sugar syrup into corn flour and mix well until it becomes smooth paste without any lumps when you see there are no lumps then add total syrup into it (don't switch on the flame).
   5. After mixing sugar syrup switch on the flame, add food color, then ghee little by little and keep mixing until the ghee is fully completed.
   6. Add dry fruits, mix once again then switch off the flame, pour into plate and keep aside for 2 hours.
   7. Cut into pieces and garnish them with silver foil, dry fruits.
   8. Finally delicious yummy sweet is ready to serve. You can store this in refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.

Total time: 30 mins

Tip of the day: While cooking take a non stick pan, if you take a normal pan there is a chances of sticking to the pan so to avoid that use a non stick pan. Keep mixing to avoid it from forming lumps.
