How to prepare SUNDAL/GUGGILU

SUNDAL/GUGGILU is a very famous snack in Maharashtra. This is usually made during festival time, offered to God and goddess. This very healthy recipe which everyone can enjoy. This can be made different varieties.

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)
  • → Kabuli chana - 1 cup
  • → Water - 1 cups
  • → Green chilies- 5 numbers 
  • → Red chilies - 3 numbers 
  • → Cashew nuts - 10 numbers
  • → Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • → Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • → Curry leaves - 1 bunch
  • → Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
  • → Onions - 2 numbers 
  • → Coconut powder - 1/4 cup
  • → Salt to taste
  • → Ginger - 1 small piece
  • → Ghee - 3-4 teaspoons 

Preparation:

   1. Soak chana in water for about 6 hours.
   2. Boil the soaked chana in a pressure cooker for 15 mins until you get 3 whistles.
   3. Heat the ghee in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ginger, curry leaves, green chilies, red chilies, onions, cashew nuts, cook them for 2 mins then add salt, after the onions are nicely softened then add boiled channa, mix well and cook for 5 mins.
   4. Garnish it with coconut powder, coriander leaves.
   5. Finally the delicious sundal is ready to offer to god/goddess. You can enjoy this dish as a snack, side dish and even for breakfast.

Cooking time: 15 mins
Preparation time: 5 mins
Total time: 20 mins

Tip of the day: Soak the chana over night for saving time. Don't add onions if you are offering for god. Adding dry fruits is optional they can make taste more yummy. Don't boil chana into massy consistency boil them such that the granules of Chana will be seen and they make the taste super.
