How to prepare SWEET CHUTNEY

SWEET CHUTNEY/SAUNTH CHUTNEY it's a tangy and sweet chutney which everyone like to enjoy with any dish. It's a substitute of tomato sauce because both taste similar so you can enjoy this yummy chutney at your home. It can be used in most of the Chinese dishes and also served with any spicy recipes.

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)
  • → Tamarind - 1 cup
  • → Cumin seeds (jeera) - 1 teaspoon 
  • → Ginger powder - 1 teaspoon 
  • → Red chilli powder - 3 teaspoons 
  • → Jaggery - 1/4 cup 
  • → Curry leaves (optional) - 1 bunche
  • → Coriander leaves (optional) - 1 bunche
  • → Salt to taste
  • → Oil - 1 teaspoon 

Preparation:

   1. Soak the tamarind in hot water for 15-20 mins then squeeze the juice from it.
   2. Heat the oil in a pan then add cumin seeds, garlic powder, red chilli powder, tamarind juice, grated jaggery, salt, cook them on a slow flame until the mixture gets thicken.
   3. After the mixture gets a nice thick sauce like consistency then remove it and let it cool for few minutes.
   4. Finally the easy tasty sweet chutney is ready to serve and enjoy with your favourite snacks or side dishes.

Tip of the day: You can adjust the sweetness according to your taste but make sure that the tangy and sweetness both present in your chutney. You can store this in chutney in air tight container for at least 2-3 weeks in a refrigerator. Kids love this sweet chutney.
