CHAKLI/CHAKRI a very famous deep fried snack recipe. It's originated from Maharashtra they make this snack during Diwali. Kids love this crispy snack. It's a deep fried recipe but it will not observe any oil they are very lite has low calories so you can enjoy this snack anytime and anywhere. Enjoy this festival with this snack.
Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)
- → Rice flour - 2 cups
- → Water - 1 cup
- → Green chilies- 5 numbers or
- Red chilli powder - 4 teaspoons
- → Besan (chickpea flour) - 1 cup
- → Carom seeds (ajwain seeds) - 2 teaspoons
- → Coriander powder - 3 teaspoons
- → Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- → Curry leaves (optional) - 1 bunch
- → Cumin powder - 2 teaspoons
- → Sesame seeds - 5 teaspoons
- → Ginger & garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- → Ghee - 3-4 teaspoons
- → Oil for deep fry
- → Salt to taste
Preparation:
1. Heat the water until they come to boil.
2. Take a mixing bowl then add rice flour, besan, Carom seeds, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, ginger & garlic paste, salt, ghee, curry leaves, coriander leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder then mix everything.
3. Add hot water into the mixing bowl then make into nice smooth doug, apply oil and put it aside for 20-30 mins.
4. Take the chakli maker apply oil/water then take the dough put it into the maker then press them into round chakli's and put them on a plate.
5. Heat the oil (don't make the oil too hot).
6. Add one by one chakli into oil then deep fry them until they become golden colour then transfer them into paper napkin, let them cool down then transfer into air tight container and you can store them for 3-4 weeks.

Tip of the day: If the chakli's are breaking while pressing add some water and knead the dough once agin. If the dough is too soft, unable to get proper shape chakli's then add some flour and mix once again then make into balls for pressing. If your chakli's observing oil then add some flour and knead the dough.
