Tips for your kitchen:

Today we will see tips on storing green leafy vegetables.

Basically green leafy vegetables should be used with in 1-2 days after getting them from market. If you wanted to store them for 1-2 weeks follow these tips and keep your leafy veggies for longer time. There are 3 methods for keeping the greens fresh without losing their nutrients. Follow these tips and make your day easier.

METHOD 1:

   1. Pluck them and separate the stems and leaves.
   2. Put them in a bowl and wash 2-3 times nicely until the dirt is gone.
   3. Transfer them onto towel let the water is completely gone and let them dry.
        OR
If you have a salad spinner use the salad spinner for washing and drying of the leafy vegetables.
   4. After they are dry then roll them in a tissue or towel loosely then pack it in a ziplock bag or in air tight container and store it in refrigerator.
   5. Don't roll them tightly that can spoil the greens faster.
   6. After getting them from market separate  the black and spoiled greens from the fresh ones that will spoil other greens.

METHOD 2:

   1. Take a glass or bowl fill it with water then put your greens into it.
   2. Cover the greens with the plastic bag then put them in a refrigerator or at room temperature.
   3. After covering the greens you can tie a knot using thread or by using elastic band.

METHOD 3:

   1. Cut the stem part and wash your greens nicely then using a salad spinner drain the water or put them on a towel, remove the water and let them dry for few minutes.
   2. In a air tight container place tissue paper or news paper or thin towel at the bottom then place the greens and now spread the tissue or news paper on the top and close the lid then put it in the refrigerator.
