How to prepare DONUT or DOUGHNUT

DOUGHNUT OR DONUT is very famous and delicious dessert which everyone loves it. This is American famous tea time snack and they usually eat donuts in the morning with tea. There are many variations, flavours and styles of making donut. This is the simplest and easiest way to make doughnut at home.

Ingredients needed:
(1 cup = 200grams)
  • → All purpose flour (maida) - 2 cup
  • → Dry active yeast - 2 teaspoons
  • → Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • → Milk - 1 1/2 cup
  • → Butter - 4-5 cubes
  • → Egg (optional) - 1 number
  • → Cocoa powder - 2 teaspoons 
  • → sprinkles - 1/4 cup
  • → Salt to taste
  • → Oil for deep fry

PREPARATION

   1. In a bowl add all purpose flour (maida), yeast, sugar, salt mix once then add butter, egg then add milk slowly and keep mixing until it becomes a soft smooth dough. 
   2. Knead the dough for 5-10 mins (stretch and roll the dough such that the aeration starts and the donuts will be soft and fluffy).
   3. Apply oil/butter to the dough and keep aside for 20 mins in warm and dark place.
   4. The dough will be doubled after 20 mins then punch the dough with hands then again knead the dough then roll into 1 inch roti. By using donut cutter or glass, bottle cap cut the roti into donut shape.
   5. Heat the oil for deep fry then fry the donuts on a medium flame until golden brown color then transfer them into plate.

FOR GARNISHING:
   6. Melt the butter then add it in the cocoa powder then make it into smooth paste.
   7. Dip the donut in the chocolate mixture then spread sprinkles. You can decorate them in your style.
   8. Everyone's favorite donuts are ready to enjoy with your family and friends. Serve this to your guests and impress them.

Preparation time: 40 mins
Total time: 60 mins

Tip of the day: To get fluffy donuts while kneading the dough add only milk don't add water. While frying don't fry lot of them at time each donut should not touch to each other. If lot of them are fried they donut get fluffy texture and they will not be cooked nicely so fry them slowly. If your dough don't aerate put the dough in the microwave for 2-3 mins.
